I just started reading Les Mis and I am already deeply inspired by the story! As a huge fan of the musical and latest movie, I wanted to dive into this dense and profound novel to better understand the story. I am pleasantly surprised by Hugo’s poignant, descriptive, and deep writing. Each sentence is so rich and flavorful, its like eating cake. However, it's never overwhelming sweet because his story is rooted in realism and truth! I think you summed it up perfectly by saying, “ Les Miserables is a timeless story mixed with challenging history lessons and philosophical musings”. It’s a challenging read at times, but it is so rewarding to plunge into Victor Hugo’s world. Thank you for sharing your insight into why readers should read Les Miserables! I will keep plugging away at this amazing novel and soon join the “I’ve read Les Mis club”!
